Description
When people find out that Scotland’s national animal is a unicorn and they start snickering and asking if Scotland was drunk when he chose the unicorn… perhaps it is noteworthy to point out the very sharp horn that can cause you some serious damage? Scotland chose the medieval unicorn, not the modern watered-down interpretation of it.
The unicorn, as it was viewed in medieval Europe, had the body of a horse, legs of a stag, a goatee and a lion’s tail. Also tradition held only one male existed at a given time, which explains why it was considered to be so rare and unicorn hunts were a popular theme.
It was about time that I drew Scotland with his unicorn. Not exactly sure what attacked Scotland and what the unicorn impaled, it’s up to your imagination. Just wanted to draw another side of the unicorn that is rarely touched upon today. Even though that was apparently the main reason why virgins were able to approach unicorns, anyone else would be torn apart by the unicorn. Scotland’s unicorn is a force to be reckoned with.
