Mixed Identity

To be honest, I'm not too happy with this picture and I've really been hesitant in uploading it. It's another gift pic that I promised to someone, you know who you are! Sorry, I sort of promised it to you so long ago and I was done with it for quite a while, but I suppose I was hesitating all this time. TsunderePizza eventually managed to convince me to upload it.

But yeah, Northern Ireland has a quite mixed identity and he is sadly often at odds with either identity. I've heard that the violence in Northern Ireland has been going down and I really hope the situation continues to improve. I just find all that violence, tensions and bloodshed heart-breaking. I went with my family to Northern Ireland once before the IRA calmed down (possibly 1996 or 1997) and I remember the border being heavily patrolled. I even think I remember when we crossed the border, the guard who was checking our passports was very stern and snarky, I felt quite uneasy when I saw him. Well, I was quite young so my memories are a bit fuzzy.

But anyway, I hope that things get better for Northern Ireland and that both identities learn to coexist peacefully.
