I mentioned to Flopy this idea so long ago, it must have been months already, I’ve been a bit nervous to post it until now. So… has anyone ever considered the pairing Northern Ireland and Falkland Islands?
I wouldn’t blame you if you found this to be a very strange pairing. Why in the world would I come up with a pairing between two avatars (one a UK nation and the other a British Overseas Territory) who as far as I can see have never directly interacted with each other politically or economically? These two don’t have much of a relationship if you try to look for information online. So what led me to pairing these two up?
Their similar situations.
What are their similarities? They’re both linked to the UK, Northern Ireland being directly a UK nation while Falkland Islands is indirectly linked to the UK. (BOTs are not part of the UK as far as I can see but they’re still considered as part of… *waves hands vaguely* ugh UK you’re confusing me here… she’s a territory under the jurisdiction and sovereignty of the UK but is not officially considered part of the UK) They’ve both been involved in conflicts that have pitted the UK on one side against the other side. On the other side, Ireland and Argentina have regarded respectfully Northern Ireland and Falkland Islands as lands that should be returned to them and an awkward tension exists because of that.
All of this has led me to thinking that these two would probably find comfort in their similar situations and turn to each other to talk about these sensitive topics, knowing that the other will understand them because they’re living through a similar situation. Of course this pairing would be regarded as pretty innocent, they’re both in their early teens so I don’t see them going beyond hand-holding and kissing on the cheek. (even then North is rather shy so there wouldn’t be much of that either) Idk, I see them working as friends or as teens with little crushes on each other. I thought the idea was cute… I hope Flopy doesn’t mind the idea, I just wanted to try it out. 
(also I would appreciate not starting a discussion on Northern Ireland’s and Falkland Island’s histories and conflicts, this is sensitive territory and I would rather not start a fight over it. I just vaguely mentioned them to illustrate their similarities.)
