Dragonized Wales

brought up an interesting point in the picture with Wales and the dragons:

"I can really see a little Wales living with dragons and feeling like he belonged with them! but at the same time feeling somewhat confused when he saw his ‘siblings’ breathing fire or flying and not being able to do it himself."

I think it relates perfectly to this little doodle I did a while back. Because the thing is, avatars influence things around them but avatarlings are subject to influences around them. That’s why in a headcanon I am writing up, it’s considered highly important that avatars are raised with a mix of isolation, faunal contact and human contact. If one of these factors are missed or they are raised completely through one factor, their growth into an adult avatar can be compromised.

The fact is, if Wales had remained with the dragons and been raised completely by them, he would start to take on characteristic traits of them as he would be influenced by them. So he would eventually gain the ability to breathe fire and perhaps even flight. Of course if Wales had gone down that route, he wouldn’t have become a nation. He wouldn’t have bound to his “people”. He would survive as a hybrid of feral avatar and dragon but he would have to remain in regular contact with dragons to survive. If Wales wandered away and cut off all contact with dragons, he would eventually fade away until he disappeared for good.  

Still, it’s fun to play around with what characteristic traits Wales would gain and just how “dragon” he could get. ^^
